I'm with you. The only thing that is old and tired is that stereotype.

Here is my email to them:
Dear Sir or Madam,
As a Librarian, I belong to a profession that is plagued with stereotypes and their negative repercussions. I have written several papers and have done studies on the issues raised by negative portrayals of a dynamic profession that is continuing to recruit younger workers and cater to a youthful generation. I find it strange that while articles like this are being written in the New York TImes, A Hipper Crowd of Shushers, your advertisement finds it necessary to imply that librarians are "old and tired", as I just saw in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZkaSwzTfNv8. Perhaps your profession does not feel the negative ripple effect when the media or Holleywood continues to negatively portray your profession. I, however, do, and I am completely offended by your advertisement. Be assured, you have lost this Librarian, being 25 and not tired at all, as a listener.

Sincerely,
Leah L. White

Here is their email address regarding advertisement: fresh1059@cbsradio.com. Screw them. That ad just makes my librarian blood boil.

I saw that commercial too. And I thought the same thing....it implied that librarians are old and boring and tired. Wow, we need to get the word out otherwise!
